Irish Football Selections
Right folks. Gonna give this a go after the League has come back from it's two week break. Would not recommend anyone to put any hard-earned on this. Also may include some Gaelic football selections.
Starting Bank of 100 points
Interested in two games tonight.
Sporting Fingal v Sligo Rovers
First off I hope this is not my heart ruling my head but here goes. Rovers have played Fingal twice this year already drawing once and losing once. The players still feel they have a wee score to settle from last seasons Cup Final where Fingal then in Division One scored two late goals to snatch the Cup. Rovers struggled at the start of the season before going on a very impressive run pre the break. Fingal have been a bit of a surprise package this year and are currently fourth in the league while Rovers lie sixth (below many peoples expectations). Rovers have played the top two since the break drawing 0-0 with Pats and very unluckily losing to Shams at weekend. These are the top two in the league. Fingal have lost to UCD but gained a good point against Bohs. Sligo Rovers new signing Lee McEvilly looked very impressive when coming from bench at weekend although match fitness may be a doubt. One major concern for Rovers is absence of suspended Centre Half Gavin Peers while Fingal are missing Shaun Maher and Gary O'Neill.
Bet 1 Lay Fingal 2Pts at 2.1
Bet 2 Back Sligo .5Pt at 4.3
Second game is Shams v St Pats
Suffice to say I'm not going to provide as detailed a write-up as above but having seen both these sides in past two weeks I am surprised they are battling it out at the top of the table. Even though Pats scored four against Galway they did not pose much of a goal threat against Sligo. Shams have averaged only one goal a game all season. With so much at stake I anticipate a cagey game 0-0 or 1-1.
Bet 3 Back Draw 1Pt at 3.2Last edited by sward73; 05-07-2010 at 07:58 PM.

Re: Irish Football Selections
Small profit from today's bets but could have been much better.
Sligo Rovers v Fingal
Bet 1 Lay Fingal 2Pts at 2.1 (Won 1.9 after Commission)
Bet 2 Back Sligo .5Pt at 4.3 (Lost .5)
Rovers went 1 up in first half and traded at 1.9 in running. Finished 1-1.
Second game is Shams v St Pats
Bet 3 Back Draw 1Pt at 3.2 (Lost 1Pt)
0-0 at Half Time and 1-1 with ten minutes to go the draw traded much lower than the 3.2. Finished 2-1 to Shams with Pats missing a penalty in the last minute which would have seen the bet win!
Profit of .4 for the day after Commission. For the purposes of the thread and P&L this will be straight backing or laying only. No in running trading but there was opportunities to make a bigger profit the way games went today.
New Bank 100.4
Profit(Loss) to date +.4Last edited by sward73; 06-07-2010 at 10:35 AM.

Re: Irish Football Selections
Bet 4 in the Europa League
Dundalk having a much better season than many anticipated in the Eircom League. At home to Luxembourg side. First leg finished 3-3.
Think Dundalk should have too much for them this time round even though a draw will see them through.
Two points on Dundalk HT/FT at 2.00

Re: Irish Football Selections
Bet 5 2 Points Sligo Rovers Win v Galway at 1.71
Bet 6 1 Point Over 2.5 Goals Sligo Rovers v Galway 2.36
Bet 7 1 Point Waterford Win v Monaghan at 2.02
Bet 8 1 Point Under 2.5 Goals Waterford v Monaghan 1.8
Sorry don't have time for detailed write-up.
Galway struggling a bit with players not being paid recently. McEvilly and Keane out for Rovers but Peers returns. Galway conceded six goals in last two games including two at home to Bottom Club Bray. Little bit of value in overs here I think.
Top of the table clash in Division one but Waterford very good at home. Worth a pop at even money. Think it will be tight too so one point on under also.Last edited by sward73; 09-07-2010 at 03:04 PM.

Re: Irish Football Selections
Bet 9 2 Points Sligo Rovers Win v UCD at 1.7
The Students have struggled a bit since the break losing three of the four fixtures. Back in June Rovers won 2-0 at Belfield and every reason to believe they can repeat the result here.
