    welcome mate!!

one word......disipline....you can never have enough of this..... in just over 2 months i made just over £300 from a £10 bank using a method called 'laying the draw'

i was flying, this is too easy!!! then i let my disipline slip, stared throwing money at systems i'd read here and the bank started dwindling....i tried to make the loses up by pure gambling......that £300 bank is now £67.83

so yeah from the original £10 its still a profit but if i'd stayed disiplined who knows how much that would be now

Hi 1878, when you said discipline, do you mean we need to follow along the system for like one month or do you mean we shouldn't out smart the system?

I think what he means by be disciplined mate, is don't go mad if you have a good or a bad run. Have a plan and try you best to stick to it. All too often people can have a bad run and end up blowing all their cash trying to chase losses, or on the other hand have a good run and up their stakes. This might sound like a good idea but what happens if you up the stakes when you're at the end of that good run and you then hit a bad patch?

If you are a beginner in this game my advice to you is stick around here and read as much as you possibly can. You will learn a hell of alot, and if you have any questions at all don't hesitate to ask people.

Thanks for your advice Scouse. When you said plan, you mean our staking plan (money management) i.e. how much we would like to turn our $1000 into $2000 for certain period of time or the system we're using?

This is how I would do it if you are going to be using systems.

    - Paper test a few systems for at least 3 months to find out which one (if any) is the most profitable and which one best suits your style of betting. You may be someone with alot of patience who can deal with long losing runs and try for the big priced winners. Or you maybe someone who needs to see slow but constant returns. It really depends on you and your style, but whatever you do dont start using a system purely on the publishers claims because the vast majority is just total lies to seperate you from your money.

    - When/if you find a system that you think you could work with, then you need to think about staking plans and when to increase/decrease your stakes. You will find info about staking plans and such in threads on this site.

The most important thing I can say mate is don't just jump into this all guns blazing because its very likely that you will get your fingers burnt. I would start with small stakes and see how you go, learn to walk before you try to run. Take your time and think about it.

I'm no expert mate so I cant answer all of your questions but there are plenty of very experienced lads on here that are always willing to help.

Scouse thanks for advice, very useful post indeed. Although I joined this forum yesterday but I learned a lot from you guys.

Edit: When you guys test these type of system how only counted as a profitable system? Winning streak of 80% or more?

I cant offer you much help mate in technical terms BUT

google matched betting...if you HAVENT opened up accounts with all the bookmakers. Its a very good way to build up a betting bank by taking advantage of having accounts with all the bookies. Its risk free if you do it correctly, you can make at least a decent sized betting bank out of it.

Open an account with an exchange, dont chase losses, Set limits on all your accounts and the golden rule never gamble more than you can afford to lose.

Threads here with a lot of views are generally popular. Posts by fazzyc, irishmick, bobajobber, scouse, taffman, charv57, middleton, onurway dave58,flipsacoin etc should be noted. Dont be afraid to ask questions no matter how stupid

Paying the small costs of a pro membership is also worth it. Or make 50 good posts.

Matched betting is one of the best things I ever did & during my first year I made approx £5000 profit from using a betting bank of £1000. That was without doing every single offer going. I still do it now but much less as I have exhausted most of the sign up bonuses (with reputable bookies anyway!). I still do reload offers & make some pocket money, which is great for those little luxuries!

I cannot stress enough how important a betting bank is.Set aside a sum of money for this.Do not get greedy and stick to what ever selections you are using through the winning runs and losing runs.
